Monday: Welcome to San Antonio City Tour

The tour will start with The Alamo, “The Shrine of Texas Liberty,” and San Antonio’s first Mission. Today, it is one of the most photographed facades in the country and the No. 1 tourist attraction in the state. Next it is on to the Mexican Market known as El Mercado. Visit the shops that offer authentic Mexican arts and crafts. Lunch will be served at Mi Tierra. After lunch, our first stop will be Mission San Jose. Here we will view a film and then walk the grounds of the largest and best restored of all the missions. We will tour the quarters that once housed the Spanish soldiers. San Jose’s church is one of the most beautiful in the country with its elaborate carvings. We will drive by the Spanish Governor’s Palace, a national historic landmark. Next is the San Fernando Cathedral, the original church of the Canary Island settlers. Built in 1731, this is one of the oldest churches in continuous use in the country.

Time: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Tuesday: Glitz, Guenther and Glass Tour

Be a part of a narrated glass blowing demonstration of a one-of-a kind piece being made from start to finish at Garcia Art Glass studio. Then it’s on to the King William Historic District where prosperous German merchants who made their mark in San Antonio in the late 1800s built their grand homes. Lunch will be served at the Guenther House. Built in 1876, it was the original home of the Pioneer Flour Mills. It has been restored and turned into a museum and tea room. Enjoy shopping at the Pearl Brewery complex, an urban renewal project with specialty shops.

Time: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The Spouse/Guest Program includes hospitality on Sunday; continental breakfast and tours on Monday and Tuesday; admission to exhibits and Welcome Reception; and the exciting Grand Finale Gala on Tuesday.

Monday: On Presidential Ground (Home of Andrew Jackson) Tour

We will visit The Hermitage, previous home of Andrew Jackson and one of the most popular presidential homes in the nation. You will be greeted by a costumed interpreter who guides you on a lively tour, recounting the colorful life of our nation’s seventh president, his family and daily life at The Hermitage in the early 19th century. The Hermitage is a National Historic Landmark standing on 650 acres of rolling meadows and woodlands. This tour includes a visit to The Hermitage mansion, grounds, garden, Jackson’s tomb, and original cabins. Next, we will enjoy some of the best cooking in Tennessee at the Opry Backstage Grill. Time: 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Tuesday: Nashville City Tour

The tour begins along the Cumberland River where Nashville began as a hub for transportation and river commerce. Guests will see Riverfront Park and the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge before heading towards “The District,” home to some of Nashville’s coolest venues such as Wildhorse Saloon, Acme Feed & Seed, the George Jones Museum, and more. Just a few streets over is the Ryman Auditorium, one of Nashville’s signature historical country music landmarks. Cruise down Broadway and experience the historic honky-tonks such as Legends Corner, Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, and more. A spin through SoBro to the stunning architecture that is the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the world’s largest research center dedicated to a single form of American music. Located downtown in the shadow of the Capitol, Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park gives visitors a taste of Tennessee’s history and natural wonders. Next, it is on to the Parthenon, the pride of Centennial Park, and the only full-scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens, Greece. Get a look at the sights and historic landmarks of Music Row as you drive down “The Row.” Who knows, you might even spot a star or two to photograph. We will then enjoy a southern style lunch at Blake Shelton’s Ole Red restaurant. Time: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
