The deadline to submit an application for the 2016-2017 student board of directors seat ends June 29.

The student board member will have the opportunity to meet and network with our industry’s key decision makers, sit in on ISEE board of directors meetings and provide input on the direction of the ISEE committees and student chapters.

The position is a one year term that runs concurrently with the presiding ISEE President’s term. To be eligible, you must belong to an ISEE student chapter and have approval from your chapter and institution prior to applying.

More than 95 explosives industry professionals and eight exhibitors filled the Birmingham Marriott Hotel in Birmingham, Ala., on Thursday, May 12 and Friday, May 13 for the second Southeast Blasting Workshop.

Held by the ISEE and supported by the Alabama Chapter, the popular event included a networking reception Wednesday evening. The workshop included a full day of presentations covering best drilling practices; interpreting seismograph data; transportation; electronic detonators; and updates from ATF and MSHA. Workshop attendees qualified for blaster’s training recertification hours from Alabama, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Sponsors included Four Star Blasting Mats Inc.; Sauls Seismic Inc.; NOMIS Seismographs; Austin Powder Company; Nelson Brothers; and TN Volunteer ISEE Chapter.

The deadline to submit an application for one of the SEE Education Foundation scholarships ended June 1, 2016. Qualified students will be considered for an award among 26 funds. 

 

The SEE Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization created in 1996 to serve the long-term education interests of the explosives industry through the development of education and training materials, championing the inclusion of explosives instruction in engineering curricula and awarding scholarships to eligible students.

The deadline to submit an abstract of your recent research or work for 43rd Annual Conference on Explosives & Blasting Technique has been extended to Friday, May 27. This is your chance to share your techniques, strategies and research with your peers and industry leaders at the world’s largest conference on explosives engineering.

The Annual Conference on Explosives and Blasting Technique is the largest gathering of its kind involving field blasters, manufacturers of explosives-related products, educators and researchers. The conference provides a forum for the discussion of practical and technical information as well as presentation of the latest discoveries in the commercial explosives industry worldwide. ISEE members and non-members are invited to submit ideas for papers to be presented at the conference. Presented papers will be published in the proceedings of the conference.
