A Tale of Two Cities Katrina Tour
Wednesday - January 30, 2008

Beginning with the French Quarter, you will see New Orleans' most famous landmarks and learn the fascinating history behind these buildings and their unique city. However, the story changes drastically as we take you towards the shore of Lake Pontchartrain. Hurricane Katrina invaded the city, changing lives and neighborhoods forever. This powerful storm weakened the protective levees sending walls of water through homes. The guide will explain this intricate balance of engineering against Mother Nature as you pass by one of the breaches in the levees. You will see first-hand abandoned homes that now await the overwhelming process of rebuilding. Travel along the beautiful St. Charles Avenue, lined with rows of magnificent homes and mansions. Pass the old Warehouse District, a revitalized area that is also home to the Convention Center.  Lunch will follow at Tujague's Restaurant.

Tour:  12:00pm - 4:00pm
